Refugee Investment Network Paves Path to Profit for Refugee Entrepreneurs

Bloomberg interviews John Kluge of the Refugee Investment Network: “There are more than 25 million refugees worldwide, forced from their homelands by war, persecution or violence. The number swells to almost 70 million when including those who are displaced within their own countries, the most ever. While nonprofits have worked for years to alleviate the misery, the private market has largely been absent. John Kluge Jr., the son of the storied media tycoon, is working to change that. Last month, he announced the Refugee Investment Network, which directs private capital to refugees. The network, with operations in Washington and Charlottesville, Virginia, has secured more than $200 million in commitments.”
